Johnny: Reflections & Recordings

2013, we barely knew ye. We’ve got a new lover now, and it goes by the name of 2014. Embrace the change, because it’s inevitable. This isn’t to say we didn’t have a great time, 2013. It’s just that it feels like the right moment for us to move on. You know, with new records and such. We won’t forget you, though. All the touring, all the shows, all the sweaty faces staring back at us from the crowd during the 365 days we were together. Let’s just remember all the magic, alright? Seriously, though, 2013 was an incredible year for us, mainly due to all of our fans and friends who supported us during the release of Seize the Year and all the touring we did in support of it.

Now, it’s on to the next one! Major tracking is almost done for our brand-new tunes. After what seems like months of pre-production (seriously, though. It was like 4 months) we finally hit the studio and blasted out 11 tracks at Four Legs Records in Washingtonville NY under the guiding hand of Steven Goldman. The wizard of the mixing desk shepherded us through it all with grace & style. It was a relaxed atmosphere, most likely because we consumed about 500 beers over the course of 5 days. Words we would use to describe the sonic landscape that’s been created: massive, elegant, powerful, agile, gorgeous. We’re immensely proud of what we’ve been able to capture in these songs. It’s expected for us to say “oh, this is our best stuff we’ve ever done!” but to be perfectly honest, we mean it 100%.

An official release date and subsequent tour dates will be announced soon, but we’re just happy to have finally gotten these tunes down on tape. There may even be a free download or two coming your way soon…

January 30thLark Tavern (Albany) w/ The Old Fashioned
February 15th: Kreusi Pub (Schenectady) w/ Joe Nacco Band / Summer of Doug

Plus, we’re STILL holding it down at Putnam Den every Wednesday Night as the host of their weekly open mic. We’re a busy bunch, that’s for sure.
